I found this at the Goodwill store for $5.99 in late summer last year! I had been wanting one of these to hold the kids backpacks, jackets etc. I love pottery barn but would rather not spend that type of money. So, I was extremely excited when I found this. I went to Home Depot and found a small paint can in the clearance section for $2!! The picture below is the AFTER picture (which was taken in the Fall :0)

I had been wanting to get new stockings but that can be expensive with a family of 8! So, I decided to make them. Joann's had a great sale on fabric at the time. So I made these and I was so pleased with the results.

Hi, Hope everyone has had a great start to the New Year! As always, things have been busy so I'm taking a quick break from like to post today. We have two birthdays just around the corner and an upcoming graduation of our oldest. Here are the Christmas cards I mailed, better late than never. The colored paper was from various scrapbooking paper I had on hand. The snowflakes were made using Martha Stewart's snowflake punch. The snowman is a digi stamp but after googling several times, I can't get the info on it :( I had written down where it was from but can't find it. If anyone knows where its from, please let me know so that I can put the info on here.

In August, our daughter wanted a backyard campout themed birthday party. So, the gift bags were "survival kits", which included s'more mix bags, bags with gold fish, bubbles, pencils, etc. We set up a tent outside, the kids had a spot where they could "fish" with fishing sets from Walgreens (they had little magnets on the fish that connected to the fishing pool and we filled a bin with water. The kids roasted their own hot dogs and marshmellows on a small fire pit. The cupcakes seen above are small campfires made from pretzels with yellow icing. We had so much fun!

I saw a beautiful apron made of this material sold at Williams Sanoma but it was too pricey :0( I had some scrapes of a valance from a curtain set that my Mom gave me so I sewed up my own apron and added the ruffle on the bottom. I'm so pleased with the results.

These are the good bags that I made to give away to my daughter's friends who attended her tea party. The bags were ones the Navy Lodge (a hotel for military families) when we first moved to Washington and were searching for a home. Every morning, they would give you a bag with a piece of fruit, pastry and a juice. I saved the bags :0) because I knew I could use them for something. I simply covered the logo with scrapbook paper, punched scalloped circles and made them into flowers. All the little girls loved them! I was pleased with the results.

Saw these on a blog and just had to make some for my 5 years olds tea party. I put them in the goody bags. I used 3"X4" plastic bags (they can be found in the jewelry making section at Joann's or Walmart). They were a hit! All the little girls loved them.

Invitations I made from my daughter and her friend's dual birthday/tea party. Unfortunately, after the invites were sent out we had to rush home to Texas because of my sister's death. So, my daughter wasn't able to attend her and her friend's birthday/tea party :0( However, I did a small one just last weekend. I'll post some pictures of some of the things I created for it.

On February 27, 2011 at 4:46 a.m. (pacific), I recieved a phone call from my older brother. He was calling to tell me that my only sister had passed away that morning in a car accident in Texas. She was 36 years old. I last communicated with her on Feb. 12 by text and a phone call then on Feb. 20 when I sent her a picture by phone of my daughters.

I ask that you never miss the chance to tell someone what they mean to you. You may never get it again.

My Mom enjoys drinking wine, attending wine tasting events and is even in a Wine Club. So, I decided to make her some Christmas ornaments for her tree. I purchased these plastic wine glasses at the Dollar Tree, made a hole in the cup using my glue gun in order to thread a ribbon through it so that it can be hung on the tree. I used small pieces from an artficial wreath for the greenery, using the glue gun attached the small ornament which I tied a red ribbon in a bow at the time. I mailed them to her and as her to open them so that she could enjoy this gift before Christmas. She said she loved them! Only complaint she had, WHERE'S THE WINE?!?!

My teenager decided to change the color scheme of her bedroom to black and white. So, I decided to recover the throw pillows in her room (they were already falling apart!) She also wanted a place to sit near her window. I had a bench seat that was at the entryway of our home, I spray painted it black, recovered a body pillow and added ties to it and used the recovered throw pillows for her bench. I'm pleased with the results!

A friend gave us this cute bench for the girls. It works great as a toy chest but I wanted to give it some love...of all the options I decided on the following....

I spray painted the chest (Ivory) then using ModgePodge attached these butterfly stickers I found at the Dollar Tree! I'm very pleased with the results :0) and so are my girls!

My son had this shirt and loved the image but the shirt was getting dingy....this stiped shirt had a couple of small holes in it from pins my son had put on it. He didn't want to get rid of either....so I cut out the image from the white shirt and sowed it to the striped one. He loved it :0)

Another pair of jeans that my daughter just can't live without eventhough they have a hole in the knee, so I added this cupcake :0) All hand made with scraps from other projects....even the beads on the cupcake topping were sewn by hand!

My girls' are attached to their clothes! So much so that when they had got holes in their jeans they pleaded for me to fix them instead of getting rid of them. I went ahead and cut out these flowers from a piece of denim fabric I had from a pair of jeans that I hemmed up for my son, then attached this cute leftover pattern fabric to the centers. I was pleased with the results and my girls are very happy too!

My Mom gave me some beautiful curtains, they were panels and some extra fabric for a valance etc. I used the extra fabric to cover the throw pillows in my living room. I intended to cover all four but stopped at two. Still debating whether I should cover the other two. We'll see. Either way, I am pleased with the results!

These are just some of the cards I created for my daughter to send her quincenera thank you notes. I drew the white dress free hand, cut it out, attached a piece of tulle, wrapped a piece of light blue ribbon, then attached a small flower to the waist. I finally attached the dress to a piece of light blue cardstock. As I look as these cards, they would also make really cute party invitations!

I made some more cloth napkins! I saw these beutiful red ones but the store only had one set of 4. I also found this beautiful pattern but the store only had 3 and they were alot larger than the red so I worked my magic, sized all the napkins down and made them look like a set :0)

These are invitations that I created for my daughter's quincenera. I had some great friends come over and help with the brainstorming....and here's the result! My daughter loved them. The main invitation was white cardstock with a brilliant blue cardstock then topped with white paper. The picture was matted with brilliant blue cardstock, then white cardstock with a magnet attached to the back. My friend was kind enough to lend me her stampin' up flower punch....so we punched lots of these flowers and sprinkled them into each invitation! It was a nice touch :0)

Things are getting soo busy! I just wanted to share some of the Christmas cards I created and mailed out this week!!

I've always wanted to use cloth napkins at home. I have relatives up North who have done so for many years. So, I finally mustered the courage :0) to shop for some cloth napkins for our home. Then I saw what the price was for a set of 4. So, after that I decided I need to get resourceful! I went to Marshall's and purchased 2 - 5 packs of kitchen towels. I came home, washed them, pressed them on low heat with the iron then folded each one in half and pressed a seam at the center of each. I then cut each towel in half, then sowed the end of towel where I cut and was very pleased with all my cloth napkins and even more pleased with the money I saved....and will continue to save by using these instead of paper napkins or paper towels!!

For some time now, I've been shopping for comforters for the family. They're always soo expensive and it seems that no matter how much you pay, no comforter has a life of about a year (or at least in my home). I'm a germaphobe (don't know if that's a real word or if I spelled that correctly) but I wash my comforters. So, with that said, I decided I'd alter my kids' comforters :0) I used flat bed sheets and covered my kids' comforters. We are all pleased with the results. The picture below is my son's comforter on his bed.

The pictures below are pictures of my 15 year old daugther's comforter on her bed. I was able to add a little ruffle to the top of her comforter (the ruffles are inspirations from Ruffles and Stuff Blog which you can find on my blog list....she's soo talented!). Now, I have to cover my daughter's throw pillows!!

Here's a small magazine/book holder I made for my 5 year old who is in kinder this year. She brings home lots of small handmade books that needed a home. So, she loves this! Now, all her little books have a place (and Mom won't find them all over the house :0) Have a great weekend everyone!

Here's another card I created using Stampin' Up! Noble Deer (retired) stamp set for the pine tree branch which I stamped to create a wreath, I attached small circles of red cardstock and added Stampin' Up! Crystal Effects to the circles. "Merry Christmas" was stamped using Stampin' Up! Christmas Greetings stamp set.

I may be on a role :0) I created this card by using Stampin' Up! Jolliest Time of the Year stamp set for the christmas tree; the poinsetta was created by using the SU! Flower Punch (a great idea I lifted from The Queen's Scene blog...check her out she's on my blog list and she's super talented!!) I used the SU! Scallop Edge punch for the top and bottom borders of the white cardstock and stamped "Merry Christmas" in SU! Whisper White Ink using SU! Christmas Greetings stamp set. I'm pleased with this simple card!!

I made these two Christmas Cards yesterday! I'm pleased with both of them. The card below I created by stamping the sentiment from Stampin' Up! Jolliest Time of the Year in Stampin' Up! Rose Red ink on the face of the card, then I used the pine branch from (retired) Stampin' Up! Noble Deer Stamp Set, I cut out each branch image then attached them in a circle to make a wreath, I stamped the images again in Creamy Caramel and cut out the pine cones and attached them on to the wreath. "Merry Christmas" was stamped using Stampin' Up! Christmas Greetings stamp set.

I got the idea of making the poinsetta with the Stampin' Up! Flower punch from The Queen's Scene Blog (your can find her blog on my blog list...she's soo talented!!). I used the pine branch stamp from (retired) Stampin' Up! Noble Deer stamp set and stamped it in Stampin' Up! Creamy Caramel on the face of the card, then I stamped the snowman using SU! Jolliest Time of the Year, I then used my SU! Scallop Edge Punch above the snowmen, the ribbon is SU! Gingham Ribbon Caramel and "Merry Christmas" was stamped using SU! Christmas Greetings Stamp Set in SU! Rose Red

I'm soo hooked on Ruffles & Stuff (you can find her very inspiring blog on my blog list). I had this eggplant dress which I bought from Target a few months ago. I wore it a couple of times but felt it was too long and needed something to make it more interesting. So, I shortened the length to the knees and added some ruffles!! (the material I used for the ruffles were scraps from a dress that I also shortened) I'm very happy with the results! My 5 year old compliments me each time I wear the dress now.

I've been inspred by Ruffles & Stuff (you can check her blog out...she's on my blog list...she's sooo talented!) to "refashion" some pieces of clothing. The shirt below was originally a man's shirt, I removed the collar, readjusted the sleeves and sewed the shirt on the sides to fit my teenage daughter. If you'll notice the ruffles, those were made with scraps of denim (from my son's jeans that I had to hem the other day) and the other ruffles are from scraps of this shirt! Oh, and do you like my daughter's denim bracelet? I had to hem a few of my son's jeans and had the bottoms of the jeans left over....so I played around for a bit and came up with this bracelet. My daughter loved it and wore it to school....she received lots of compliments on the shirt and bracelet :0) (Note: the belt is one my daughter already had) She's worn this shirt with jeans and leggings...it looks cute both ways!

This is another Christmas Card I made for a Christmas Card Workshop I'm hosting at my home next week! The Santa is from Stampin' Up! Jolliest Time of the Year stamp set, "Merry Christmas" is from Stampin' Up! Christmas Greetings and the row of houses is from Stampin' Up! Neighborhood jumbo wheel. I added Stampin' Up! Crystal Effects to santa's belt and boots, then Fun Flock for "snow" on the rooftops of the houses and the trimming of Santa's suit!
